Arusha National Park Pink Flamingo

Arusha National Park

Despite the park’s small size, the area has a wealth of wildlife and breathtaking geology. The park has three distinct and spectacular features: the Momela Lakes, the Meru Crater (the second highest mountain in Africa at 14,980 feet) and the Ngurdoto Crater.

The park has a wide range of habitats, from the string of crater lakes (where flocks of water birds congregate) to the highland forest to the imposing summit of Mount Meru. You’ll encounter a diverse variety of game, including colobus and vervet monkeys, bushbucks, herds of buffaloe, red forest duikers, hippos, elephants, and giraffes.

Almost 400 species of birds have been recorded in the park. Some of them are migratory and only present between October and April, others are permanent residents. Especially the Momela lakes are a great place for bird watching, which host a large concentration of waterbirds, including flamingos.
