Under the magnificent shade trees, on the banks of a seasonal river in the remote southern sector of the Ruaha National Park, Jongomero is gloriously isolated. Far from the madding crowds, this secluded idyll offers a chance to discover true unadulterated wilderness.
Jongomero is a camp that suits adventurous travelers looking for that little bit of luxury. On a sweeping river meander lies the camp bar, lounge and restaurant; an open wooden terrace shaded by a high thatched roof and filled with sumptuous sofas and striking furniture made of reclaimed dhow wood. After game drives by vehicle and on foot laze around the elevated pool and enjoy the sights and sounds of being close to nature.
Accommodation at Jongomero comprises eight well-appointed, luxurious tented suites with spacious private veranda and en-suite bathroom. Dinners on the riverbed under the stars are a real highlight here.
The game viewing area here may not be as prolific as the Mwagusi area further north but travelers to Jongomero should want to get away from crowds – choosing the remote location over the concentration of game found further north. Combining the two areas is a superb trip.
